How to Save kids from Coronavirus? Amberlay Preschool
Guide to Save Kids from Coronavirus
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a widespread disease that is haunting everyone today. Kids might be wondering and need to know more about this too. Being a parent and guardian, it becomes of utmost importance to educate kids so that they are very well aware of the precautionary measures. Kids tend to be worried and then they start discussing among themselves without much knowledge. It is very important for parents, guardians, school staff, daycare staff to educate kids on this disease and safety measures. This can help the kids in having accurate and honest information leading to less fear or anxiety.
Here are a few points to consider as a guide to avoid spreading this disease:
Maintain Cleanliness
As a parent or guardian taking extra care to maintain the cleanliness is most important. You should also take all the measures to disinfect surfaces and objects in the house like chairs, sofa, bed, floor, etc.
Be with the Kid
Being a parent it is your responsibility to take care of your kid too. You should talk with your employer about leave and apply for the same in case you need to stay at home with your child. Consider planning for alternate childcare arrangements in case you need to avoid the daycare.
Encourage your kid to stay at home
It is important to understand that kids come in contact with other kids while playing in garden/grounds and while being in school or daycare. So if your kid or other kids are unwell, let them stay away from each other. You should temporarily restrict your kids from preschool, daycare, school, gardens, etc. as precautionary measures.
Practice and reinforce good prevention habits with your family
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds,
- If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Inform and Seek Guidance
It is upto you to keep School, Medical Practitioners and Government Authorities informed if you have doubt that your kid is showing the symptoms of this infection.
Other Important Points
- Be available for your kids and respond to all their queries.
- Avoid language and comments that might blame others.
- Pay attention to what children see or hear on television, radio, or online so that they are not misguided.
- Provide kids all the information that is honest and accurate.
Let us understand more about Coronavirus:
COVID-19 is the short name for “Coronavirus disease 2019.” Doctors and scientists are still learning about it as it is a new virus that originated from China but has spread its wings across the globe. It can look different in different people. It may be like having flu. People tend to get fever, cough, sneezing and breathing difficulties. In most of the cases kids don’t seem to be very sick as compared to the adults.
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person between people who are in close contact with one another or through an infected person’s cough or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouth or nose of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. Some spread might be possible before people show symptoms; there have been reports of this occurring with this new coronavirus, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.
